Beautiful, Luxury Leathers
Founded in 1978 as a two-man workshop in Pondicherry, Hidesign has grown into a global brand recognized for its high quality, unique design and beautiful leathers. We’re now a company with over 3000 employees spread over the world, but we stay true to our Artisan roots. We began by selling our products in small, alternative shops in San Francisco and London. Following the opening of our first exclusive boutique in India in 1998, we’ve quickly grown a distribution network in 23 countries with 84 exclusive stores.
Our belief in being Artisanal means we have no mass production or assembly lines. Our leathers are handcrafted in our own tanneries, and fittings are handmade and polished. Our highly skilled craftsmen have an average work experience of 17 years and have accrued a vast range of making skills that are put into every Hidesign bag.
Unlike most other companies that use the faster, cheaper process of Chemical tanning, our leathers are vegetable tanned. This traditional process uses natural seeds and barks, native to South India to tan the leather. Our leathers are naturally beautiful, and are lightly colored by hand, rather than being covered in multiple layers of pigment.
We place great value in natural beauty. Our products are all individually handcrafted using the finest leathers made exclusively in our tannery. Our natural tanning process enhances each hide’s intrinsic characteristics and individuality. Our solid brass buckles are sand cast and hand polished, reflecting old saddlery traditions. Each piece is unique and magnificent. Hidesign bags are designed and built to last. You will see styles in use today that were purchased over 10 years ago each now a unique piece cherished by their owners. Still as useful as the day they were purchased.
Hidesign caters to professionals looking for dependable and timeless styles that are both elegant and functional. Our leather collection includes handbags, briefcases, dispatch bags and wallets. Our products come with a warranty, and we can carry out repairs services at a number of UK recommended repair centres.
